WASHINGTON – Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, will accompany President Biden to a joint congressional session tonight in the House to deliver Mr. Biden’s address.

Owens will accompany President Biden with a non-partisan group
Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, will serve on the Congress Escort Committee, which will join the Chamber as a bipartisan group with the President.
“It is an honor to stand alongside the Congress Escort Committee before the President’s State of the Union address,” Owens said in a statement. “Like millions of Americans, I hope for a real commitment to solving challenges without burdening hardworking taxpayers or adding to the size and scope of government.”
The speech is Mr Biden’s first at a joint conference session. Usually these addresses are referred to as the State of the Union address, but traditionally a president’s first speech before a joint session of Congress is not referred to by this name.
It is the first time that two women sit behind the President for his speech. Vice President Kamala Harris serves as Senate President and MP Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Serves as Speaker of the House.
