A Thousand Palms man is charged with requesting a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old minor online, Riverside County sheriff officials say.

Ramiro Rodriguez, 35, was arrested Thursday by the Riverside County’s Anti-Trafficking Task Force.

Task force members posing as a 13-year-old woman performed an undercover operation Monday to solicit sex from a minor online.

Rodriguez initiated an online conversation with the aim of soliciting a sexual encounter with a 13 year old minor.

During the conversation, Rodriguez reportedly agreed to meet the online decoy on Thursday at a location on the 72-900 block of Highway 111 in Palm Desert with the intention of engaging in indecent acts, officials said.

These cases often involve commercial child sex trafficking, as well as cases of forced labor, indentured servitude, bondage, or slavery.

The task force combines the investigative resources of local and federal law enforcement agencies and also provides victim services and education / outreach through partnerships with nonprofit groups Operation Safe House, Rebirth Homes and Million Kids.
