The Block star Suzi Taylor discovered not responsible in escort extortion trial

Former The Block reality TV star Suzi Taylor and her co-defendants were found not guilty of blackmailing Ms. Taylor’s date, handcuffing him and holding him against his will in their Brisbane unit in 2019.

Ms. Taylor, 50, whose name is Suellen Jan Taylor, and Ali Ebrahimi, 24, have been charged with imprisonment, extortion, fraud, attempted fraud and assault.

The incident allegedly took place on October 30, 2019 at the riverside three-bedroom apartment of Ms. Taylor and Mr. Ebrahimi in New Farm and concerned the then 33-year-old applicant David Butler.

During the four-day trial, Mr. Butler alleged that when he refused to pay for Ms. Taylor’s escort services, Mr. Ebrahimi entered the room, attacked him, and tied him up with an iPhone charger.

Ms. Taylor and Mr. Ebrahimi claimed that Mr. Butler had previously made an arrangement to pay for sex.

Mr Butler initially claimed there was no discussion of the payment, but later admitted that an agreement to exchange money for sex may have been reached.

Mr Butler admitted that he lied about the incident in parts of his original police testimony and previous testimony before the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

Ms. Taylor’s attorney Michael Gatenby spoke in Brisbane District Court following Thursday’s not guilty verdict.
