Registered Intercourse Offender Charged with Possessing Baby Pornography | USAO-RI

PROVIDENCE – A Foster man convicted in Rhode Island state court in June 2017 for dealing online with someone he believed was a 13 year old girl he was sexually explicit with Has shared pictures and with whom he has tried to make arrangements to engage in sex near the girl’s middle school has been taken into federal custody for alleged possession of child pornography.

John Q. Adams, 31, was arrested Thursday on a federal criminal complaint indicting child pornography possession following the January 2021 investigation by the Rhode Island Homeland Security Investigations and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force State Police had been investigating video showing a prepubescent woman engaged in various sexual acts with an adult man.

Adam’s alleged online activity was alerted to a homeland security investigation by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Adams was arrested and taken into federal custody after appearing before US District Court judge Patricia A. Sullivan Thursday. He announced that US attorney Aaron L. Weisman, Homeland Security Specialist William S. Walker, and Rhode Island State Police Superintendent James M. Manni.

In June 2017, Adams was sentenced to 5 years in prison in Rhode Island State Court, suspended for 1 year with four years in prison, and given a sex offender registration.

A federal criminal complaint is just an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case is being followed up by US assistant attorney Denise M. Barton.
