Police cost grownup caregiver with sexual battery of a minor

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga police have arrested a suspect in a battery sexual trial against a teenager.

Police received the complaint a month ago about a 1914 Vance Avenue incident.

Investigators have charged Randi Duarte, 35, with sexual harassment by a person of authority, coercion of a witness and manipulation of evidence.

She was arrested in Whitfield County and is being returned to Hamilton County for law enforcement.

The facility on Vance Avenue is one of the ancient Tennessee temples and the address of the Baptiste Group service that houses immigrant children.

Several politicians have spoken of an investigation into a sexual battery case involving an immigrant child. An employee kissed a minor in their care.

Attorney General Neil Pinkston said last week, “We will work with the CPD and vigorously pursue all state crimes uncovered by the investigation.”

According to police, the victim in this case is a 16-year-old man who fled the facility a few weeks after the alleged incident.

It is said that he has since been safely found with his family in Guatamala.
