A public probation hearing is due to take place this month for a man convicted of the murder of an Oakland University student whom he met through an escort service in 1995.
Kenneth Tranchida, 67, was a 41-year-old drifter when he killed Tina Biggar, 23, of Farmington Hills, whose body was found in Southfield about a month after her disappearance on August 23, 1995. She also worked for the escort service Biggar, a psychology student who had examined prostitutes and AIDS for a class project at the OU.
Court records show Tranchida admitted killing Biggar and stated that she had financial problems. He decided to “get her out of her misery and end it for her”. Biggar died of blows to the head and neck.
