Episode Notes

Prudence is joined this week by Alexis Coe, a historian and New York Times bestselling author of You Never Forget Your First: A Biography of George Washington. She was the producer of Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Washington series on the History Channel and the producer of the film adaptation of her first book Alice + Freda Forever: A Murder in Memphis.

Prudie and Coe rummage through letters about what to look for if your developmentally retarded daughter is now showing an interest in sex. You should let your friend’s child know that their mother is a sexual abuse survivor, what to do if your 35 year old best friend has an inappropriate friendship with a 17 year old, and how to support your partner when you feel like it not having bandwidth to support it.

You can access all of Prudie’s podcasts and columns here.

Do you have a question for Prudie? Send it to prudence@slate.com or leave a voicemail message at 401-371-DEAR (3327). Your question may be answered in a future episode of the show.

Production by Phil Surkis.
