A Moundsville man faces multiple criminal offenses, including incest, following an alleged incident in November.
In late February, a sexual assault nurse at WVU Medicine’s Reynolds Memorial Hospital contacted Moundsville police about a 13-year-old girl who said she was assaulted in November by James Cusick, 23, of Moundsville.
The girl told police that Cusick had contacted her on Snapchat and came to her apartment to get something to eat. She said Cusick pushed her against the counter and touched her inappropriately before forcibly stripping her, throwing her on the couch and allegedly sexually assaulting her.
Moundsville Police contacted Cusick and arrested him at his home. During a subsequent interview, Cusick initially denied anything had happened but later allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl. He said after about ten seconds that he stopped because “Something in his head told him what he was doing was wrong.” according to the police report.
Cusick allegedly told police that he had known the girl for a number of years, that she was ten years younger than him, and that his actions were fraudulent on his wife.
Cusick has been charged with incest, sexual abuse by a guardian or administrator, and third degree sexual assault. He will remain in the Northern Regional Jail instead of a $ 60,000 bond.
