Justin Theroux Jokes About His ‘Complete Transformation’ to Play Two Completely different Intercourse and the Metropolis Characters
Justin Theroux looks back on his unorthodox appearances in Sex and the City.
In an interview with Sunday Today host Willie Geist, the 49-year-old actor joked about how he appeared as two different characters on the HBO hit series: first in Season 1 as Jared, an up-and-coming writer on a mission to Interact with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker); then in season 2 as Vaughn Wysel, a short story writer who is dumped by Carrie.
“It’s about girls who date each other all the time. They burn every single male actor in New York,” Theroux told Geist, 45. “I did a little part in the first part. You know, step into the frame and say a few things. ” and then leaves the frame. “
“And they said, ‘Why don’t you come back?’ “Theroux added. “And their idea was that they would just shave my head. And they’re like ‘Wallah! Total Transformation’.” “

Last month, during a conversation with E! News that he would “like” to attend the upcoming Sex and the City revival. “If they wanted me, I would do Sex and the City again,” he said. “It’s kind of a rite of passage, I think, doing Sex and the City in New York when you’re a younger actor.”
“That and, you know, Law & Order,” joked Theroux. “I still haven’t done Law & Order, which I really want to do at some point.”
In the upcoming HBO Max series, titled And Just Like That, three of the four original SATC leads (Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon) will repeat their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes.

During the interview with Sunday Today, Theroux also spoke to Geist about his new Apple TV + series, The Mosquito Coast, based on his uncle Paul Theroux’s 1981 novel of the same name. The actor plays in the series Allie Fox, an idealistic man who uproots his family to Latin America.
“It’s about a man loosely based on several family members, my grandfather is one of them,” Theroux said before Geist pointed out that he’s not sure whether Allie is a heroic or an evil character.
“That’s by design. When we’ve done our jobs, keep asking this question,” the star said. “Is he the loveliest, most wonderful father to have these children experience this? Or is he the worst man on the planet?”
The Mosquito Coast premiere will be on April 30th on Apple TV +.
