Jury acquits Kearney man of three counts intercourse assault | State and Regional Information

KEARNEY – A jury acquitted a Kearney man on three sexual assaults and was bogged down on a fourth similar charge.

The jury found 19-year-old Kearney-born Collin Taubenheim not guilty in Buffalo County District Court. The jury was bogged down on a fourth charge of first-degree sexual assault and a lawsuit was declared, according to court records.

The prosecution accused Taubenheim of exposing the alleged victims to sexual penetration without their consent. Taubenheim, who was originally charged in May, denied the allegations, which are said to have occurred on April 28, 2018, August 31, 2018, September 9, 2018 and February 24, 2019, and included three victims.

The three-day trial earlier this week was chaired by Judge Andrew Butler.

A status hearing will be held later this month on further proceedings related to the frozen indictment.
