Chennai, April 24th (IANS): Providing a green corridor for medical oxygen tankers, setting up a 24-hour hospital / nursing home call center to resolve oxygen-related problems, and instructing the industry to increase oxygen production are some of the actions taken by the Tamil Nadu government.
In a statement posted here, the government said it had asked oxygen manufacturers to investigate ways to increase production.
The government also said that tankers carrying medical oxygen, along with the police patrol, will be provided with a green corridor wherever necessary for the rapid movement of vehicles carrying oxygen.
To resolve medical oxygen issues related to some hospitals / nursing homes, the government has set up a 24-hour call center under the State Drug Controller.
Tamil Nadu hospitals / nursing homes suffering from a lack of medical oxygen can turn to 104 for help immediately.
The government said the demand for medical oxygen from Covid-19 treatment facilities such as hospitals / nursing homes is expected to increase as the number of Covid-19 cases increases.
