A Harbor Hills man has ended up behind bars after allegedly contacting a young girl he had sex with last year.
37-year-old Benjamin Yarish was posted on the Lake County Jail last week without bond after his bond was revoked.
Yarish, owner and operator of Central Florida Gun and Tactical in Leesburg, is accused of molesting the girl in July while staying at his home in the Lady Lake condominium. He was arrested and released on August 12 for a battery crime after bailing $ 25,000. At the time of his release, he was ordered not to have any contact with the girl.
However, Yarish made several attempts to contact the girl through social media. A “control call” was set up between Yarish and the girl last Wednesday. The recording was handed over to the public prosecutor’s office. During the call, Yarish informed the girl that he would get her a “burner phone” so she could contact him anytime. He told her not to tell anyone they had spoken. The next day, Yarish wrote the girl a message telling her she was “always on my mind and in my heart,” according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He told her to delete the message after reading it.
Last year, an investigation opened after the Department of Children and Families received an anonymous complaint that Yarish had had sexual intercourse with the juvenile victim, according to an affidavit of the likely cause.
The girl told investigators that she was at Yarish’s home on July 18 when a woman who accompanied her to the house passed out in the living room. The woman had been with Yarish for about nine months. The girl went to sleep in a bedroom at home.
The girl was in bed when Yarish walked into the room and started rubbing her back, the affidavit said. Yarish began “stroking the teenage victim’s breasts and kissing her lips and breasts.”
Yarish, who is over six feet tall and weighs 240 pounds, climbed the girl who is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 95 pounds. He started having sex with the girl who told investigators it was the “first time she had any sexual experience”. She said she asked Yarish to stop “several times” but he continued. She said it felt like traffic was going “forever”. She was bleeding and in pain when it ended. She later feared she might be pregnant.
Yarish allegedly said to the woman who accompanied the girl that he could “furnish her for life” if they “make it all go away,” the affidavit said. He also boasted that he had connections in the sheriff’s office.
