Pittsburgh police posted a message from a “grateful family member” that her mother was on her way home from work at around 3:00 am when her car was blocked just blocks from her home.

She called 911 and informed her that there had been several accidents involving emergency vehicles, salt trucks, and other people, so they had no idea if or when someone would make it to her. They recommended that she go home.

According to police, Officer Justin Hill drove through the icy streets to get to her, while his partner, Officer Derrick Allen, walked the rest of the way – and even carried her purse.

Officer Allen then waited outside until the woman was safe in her home.
