Escort Service Robbing Prospects Busted, 5 Arrested: Noida Police

The gang was broken up by officers from the local Sector 24 Police Station, police said (representative)

With the arrest of five people, including four women, Noida police said Tuesday they broke up a gang that allegedly pillaged customers after luring them into the guise of escort services in Delhi-NCR.

The gang, which includes a Delhi-based couple, used social media and other online platforms to publicize their services, said Noida, deputy police commissioner Rajesh S.

The official said the gang, which had been active in the area for more than a year, was broken up by officers from the local Sector 24 Police Station.

According to the police, the gang would publish their contact numbers on social media platforms and offer escort services. When a member was contacted, they would send them photos of women on their phones and engage them in text chats.

Once a deal was established, one of the female gang members escorted the supposed service provider to a pre-determined meeting point, which could be a mall or location, and then took the target to an isolated location and robbed them, the company said Police.

“They did not provide services to the customer, they took away the money that they would have either by attacking, intimidating or threatening them,” said DCP Rajesh.

Regarding the number of people the gang has targeted so far, in such cases, victims generally do not come forward and contact the police fearing it would cause embarrassment.

“However, such incidents have already been reported in Noida, where similar gangs were broken up. We analyzed the associated phone numbers, which led to arrests today,” he told reporters, flanked by additional DCP Ranvijay Singh, ACP Rajneesh Verma and SHO Sector 24 Prabhat Dixit.

The DCP said the couple were the main organizers of this gang and that the police had links to their broader links with other groups involved in similar activities.

“We are following you now and would arrest you soon,” he said.

Those arrested were identified as Roshni, her husband Divyansh, Sarifa Khatoon, Manju and Parmila and were arrested here near a park in Sector 54, police said.

Roshni, Divyansh and Sarifa are residents of Delhi, while Manju and Parmila live in the Faridabad district of Haryana, police added.

An FIR has been filed against them and further proceedings are in progress, police said.
