Dignified police escort to carry Cpl. Keith Heacook residence

A worthy police escort will bring Delmar Cpl. Keith Heacook’s body returns to Delaware on Sunday, May 2nd.

Heacook was in intensive care after an attack in Baltimore on April 25 when he was responding to a fight in a Delmar home. He was pronounced dead on April 28 from head injuries and was kept alive so his organs could be harvested for transplants.

“Cpl. Keith Heacook made the ultimate sacrifice for his community on Sunday April 25th and will never be forgotten. “Said Delmar boss Ivan Barkley. “Delaware and Maryland law enforcement officials will be bringing him back to Delmar on Sunday afternoon, where he will be honored on the streets and in the neighborhoods he patrols. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support as Keith’s family, ward, and police navigate through these troubled times. “

The police escort leaves Baltimore at 2 p.m. and takes the following route:

  • Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
  • I-395
  • I-95
  • I-695
  • I-97
  • Route 50
  • Route 404 to Bridgeville
  • Route 13 south
  • Route 54 west to Delmar
  • S. Bi State Boulevard heading south
  • E. Elizabeth Street to the west
  • S. Pennsylvania Avenue (past the Police Department) north
  • E. Grove Street to Shorts Funeral Home.
