DEL RIO, Texas – US border guards at Del Rio Station arrested a convicted sex offender on January 28th.
“Border security is national security and is vital to the security of this great nation,” said Austin L. Skero II, Chief Patrol Agent for Sector Del Rio. “I am very proud of our agents who prevented another predator from entering our communities.”
Agents arrested Eduardo Bernal-Nava, 39, a Mexican national, shortly after he entered the United States illegally. During the processing, file reviews revealed that in 2015 Bernal-Nava was convicted of constant sexual abuse of a child and indecent acts with a child and sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison. Bernal-Nava was last removed from the USA in 2020.
As a convicted criminal, he is punished with 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
