The Capitol Police officer who stopped a mob from breaching the Senate chambers during the Capitol attack escorted Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to the Capitol on Wednesday before the inauguration.
Eugene Goodman has been commended for luring a group of rioters out of the Chamber while the Senators were still inside, and several lawmakers are pushing for legislation to give him the Congressional Gold Medal.
Goodman was selected as the Senate Deputy Sergeant for Inauguration Day.
