WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A Woodbridge Township man has now been arrested for escalating sexual assault on a woman and armed robbery of a man that police said took place on Friday evening April 16.
Razzell Austin, 21, of Avenel, was arrested Tuesday this week by members of the Woodbridge Police Department, the Carteret Police Department and the Middlesex County Attorney’s Office.
The police are still looking for the man he committed the crime with.
An investigation by Woodbridge Police Department officer Robert Montalvo and Middlesex County Attorney’s Detective Linda Infusino found that a woman and a man spoke to a woman and man in the Lee Street and Scott Place area at 9:00 p.m. on April 16 were held at gunpoint by Austin and another suspect. The investigation also found that the female victim was sexually assaulted and that both of their personal belongings were picked up at gunpoint.
Austin has been charged with two charges of aggravated first degree sexual assault, one charge of aggravated criminal third degree sexual contact, two armed robbery charges, one first degree kidnapping charge, and one third degree criminal detention charge, a possession count a second degree pistol, one count of possession of a second degree weapon for an unlawful purpose, two fourth degree endangerment counts, one fourth degree disability count, and one fourth degree count of resistance to arrest.
Austin is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, where he is being held pending a Supreme Court hearing.
Authorities are still looking for Austin’s co-defendant, a slender white or Hispanic man with brown hair and brown eyes who stands between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. It is believed that this suspect was wearing a gray Nike hoodie and white Nike trainers at the time of the attack.
