The new Netflix documentaries, World`s Most Wanted, reveal details about the mythical Mexican drug lord Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, leader of the Sinaloa cartel, one of the most powerful in the world and with an international presence.

The real boss of the Sinaloa cartel has legions of fighters who take care of him, follow strict protocols and can never say his name.

“The great man,” “the man who commands,” or simply “Lord,” is what your subordinates must tell you.

“Everyone says El Mayo, the Lord, they don’t say their name, it’s dangerous, it’s obvious, it’s something that burdens you,” explains Jesús Esquivel, a journalist specializing in drug trafficking.

“The great Lord, the Lord who commands, He organized, He gave instructions how we are educated, how we take care of ourselves, the person’s name should never be said. There are protocols everywhere and we have to respect them, ”says a completely disguised Hitman boss to the journalist who interviewed him for the series.

The Mexican drug dealer surrounded himself with a small personal army, circles, many circles, before he got the boss, which is why he delegates so much authority to the killers, says Esquivel.

Another man, also with his face covered, identifies himself as Eladio. He is a Sagittarius from Mayo and has no qualms about saying it, he even says he is proud.

“Soy, the eagle, does what we are commanded to do. I am very happy to be part of the Sinaloa cartel, ”says one of its killers in front of the cameras.

The boss of the killers explains what it is like that mayo has been able to escape justice for decades.

“We have to set up an information system, we have 150, 160 elements here, a vehicle is being handed over. And there is someone coordinated to check and say, at the point this vehicle passed them, we have people at the entrance, other people halfway through, others on the hill.

Also at the airport you have people giving you the logs, departures and arrivals of the flights. “There is information everywhere,” says another cartel man.

In response to the journalist’s express question to the head of May’s killers: What is the secret so that he has not been caught yet? The man from Zambada soon answers:

“Dealing well with the community is the main thing.”

For Jack Riley, a retired DEA agent, El Mayo has incorporated the residents of the cities where the Sinaloa Cartel operates into its safety and business plan.

“According to the Robin Hood theory, Mayo is a hero. Build soccer fields and all that stuff, churches … that’s included in their safety plan and business plan too, because it makes locals vigilant when it comes to seeing things and reporting them, ”explains the DEA agent.

The series also revealed how authorities persecuted the leader of the powerful Sinaloa cartel.

Among the details you pointed out, there is one in particular that attracts attention. There is not a single recording in which the voice of the head of the fearsome cartel can be heard.

“El Mayo knows that if he spends a lot of time on the phone, it could be the end of it,” reveals drug trafficking journalist Jesus Esquivel.

The operations and the few photos that exist of him made it possible The operations and the few photos that exist of him have enabled “El Mayo” Zambada to remain free.

Mayo Zambada is aware of the persecution and avoids using the phone. It is rare for him to speak at a group meeting. Those in charge cannot mention your name.

“There’s nothing against mayo. There is no record of his voice, ”denounced the Mexican journalist.

Esquivel recounts on the series that he did not say a single word in the high-level meetings of the Sinaloa cartel, even to give orders to his subordinates. Once outside, he would dictate what to do.

“In meetings with the top cartel leaders, Mayo says ‘nothing’. When I was about to give an order, I called someone, left, and then gave the order, ”explains Esquivel.

According to William Purpura, identified on the series as one of Chapo’s lawyers, El Mayo is an extremely intelligent man whom I used Guzmán Loera as an intermediary for decades.

The tapes you listen to Guzmán Loera on talk about the cost and amount of drugs he was dealing in. You were his belief. Instead, Zambada was extremely careful.

“That speaks to how powerful El Mayo is compared to El Chapo. Mayo must be an extremely intelligent man, now he must be 71 or 72 years old. “Says Chapo’s lawyer.

DEA retired officer Jack Riley, who chased Mayo and El Chapo for many years, says the leader of the Sinaloa cartel is a visionary business and very strategic in mind.

“He’s an enemy we’ve never dealt with. He understood at a young age the importance of going unnoticed.”

Riley says the DEA, CIA, FBI, and even U.S. intelligence were gangs in Chicago after the Sinaloa cartel’s links, but in particular, they wanted evidence that the Mayo was running the operations. You were out of luck.

In 2018 “El Mayo” Zambada will be 70 years old.

“All the authorities, DEA, CIA, FBI, police, ATF and even the secret service wanted to hear the Mayo speak to see if he was his,” says the retired agent.

“The broker was El Chapo because he was nice,” assured another agent who was years after his mark.

For decades, Guzmán Loera was the one who gave expression to the commands of the Mayo. All calls overheard him negotiating, reporting, or conducting cartel operations: you believed he was.

The documentaries explore how five of the world’s most powerful criminals stayed free and why U.S. authorities want them behind bars forever.
