90th birthday celebrations included a police escort

RIVERTON, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) –

A police officer’s day involves many uncomfortable chores, but some Fremont County officials have separated their day from their duties by escorting a parade for a 90th birthday party.

By the birthday boy’s own words, she’s just an ordinary woman, but on March 19, it was an occasion for friends, family members and parishioners to celebrate her 90th birthday with a small parade past her house with police escorts.

Beatrice Morrow ‘Bea’ explained: “For safety reasons there was a police car in the front and a police car in the back. I’m a safety freak when it comes to driving and people driving down my street too fast but those people would stop and wave, it was wonderful. “

Grandma Bea really wanted to thank her family, as well as the law enforcement authorities for the honking party all day and the nightly parade past her house. “The cops, who were so nice to me and even waved me through their cars, did a good job keeping traffic down,” added Morrow.

The whole party was unexpected and like someone from Bea’s generation, she hadn’t imagined that such joyful celebrations would have to be made for her. She said, “I wasn’t expecting it at all, I’m just me and I love you all, thank you.”

Grandma Bea said she didn’t feel her age. “Probably around 68 or 69,” Morrow chuckled.

When she was asked for her advice to stay young, it was to stay busy and be kind to one another, no matter what life throws at you. Morrow stated, “Bad things happen to me in my life and they are really bad, and yet I got the Lord to look after me.”

Grandma Bea is grateful to everyone involved that she made her 90th birthday a real celebration. Sergeant Randy Foos of the Riverton Police Department provided the parade, stating, “It is definitely something unique and enjoyable to give back to the community. Anything we can do to give back to the community, we love to do. “

“Riverton is a wonderful city, I am really happy to live here because I had so many friends and it was really a wonderful life,” said Morrow.

The Riverton Police Department hopes that more of their day will consist of such tasks.
