FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE / KGPE) – A man was arrested after MPs tried to meet a 13-year-old for sex and sent the child explicit material.
The 13-year-old’s parents first filed a complaint with the Fresno Police Department when they found “relevant material” on the teenager’s phone. Detectives say Michael Andrew Alonso, 31, from Fresno, sent sexually explicit material to the teen and tried to meet the child for sex.
Alonso was arrested at his home on the 4000 block on Sherman Street in Fresno, MPs say. According to investigators, electronic evidence as well as marijuana and Xanax pills were seized.
Described as “a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal record”, Alonso was wearing a suspended GPS ankle monitor at the time of his arrest. He was sent to Fresno County Jail for possession of child pornography, attempting to meet a child for sex, drug possession, and parole violation.
Alonso’s bail was set at $ 55,000.
